"I went to the Lakeview, Roselawn and Tiger Flowers cemetery complex for this fieldtrip, and I stayed there for at least 40 minutes"It really was an interesting and very different experience for me. I mean, its not everyday I go and read in the cemetery. What I enjoyed the most would have to be how peaceful I felt as I was there. Though I could clearly hear the sound of traffic and busy streets, I was overwhelmed by how serene it was. So many times we get so caught up in our busy schedules and crazy fast-pace lifestyles that we forget to take time to simply sit in silence; embracing the stillness around us. I know I definitely have to do that more often (maybe not in the cemetery, but someplace where I can just sit and listen to the stillness which surrounds me).

Yea i can relate to your post. The world is on going around you but for in the moment you are caught up in and you just sit there and contemplate and read and are at such a peace. I did not know what to expect upon this experience, but I gained a lot from it and really enjoyed it thoroughly.
ReplyDeleteyea it was a very cool experience... I didnt know how it would be at first but once I was there I got really comfortable. Just looking at all the dates and different names on the tombstones made me think about how one day my name and numbers will just be another one that somebody living just passes by... like I myself was doing. One thing I believe we should always slow down and think about is death, and this experience was a good way to slow down and ponder on it for a while... well 40 min at least.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post.
ReplyDeletei really love your pic... its very fitting in the fact that it gives an artistic look
ReplyDeleteI think the picture sums up all the words you were saying. It really adds impact and proof of how sometimes we really do just need to stop and take a moment to stand still instead of always rushing to live life.
